An online course paired with a coaching community to get you writing and keep you moving.
THE PARTS OF THE PROGRAM:
- Mindset: A focused, professional mindset that frees you from doubt, fear, and self-critique and brings you back to a place of fun and fulfilling writing.
- Method: techniques for scheduling your time, overcoming obstacles, and organizing your approach to create more time for your book each week, and equip your to write more words during each writing session.
- Map: A baseline of story planning and organization to orient your work towards a clear set of story milestones so that you don't waste time wondering what you should be writing next. A story map will help you define the key elements of your story without bogging you down in too much detail.

In Week 7 we’ll discuss how to push through the “swampy middle” of your story and keep the writing process fun and fulfilling when it starts to become a slog.
WEEKS 8, 9 & 10
FLOW AND FREEDOM
In Weeks 8 and 9 we’ll learn how to stop yourself from the temptation of editing too soon, and how to turn your important relationships from interruptions into your biggest writing allies and champions.

WEEKS 11, 12 & 13
FEEDBACK AND CELEBRATION
In Week 11 & 12 we’ll cover how to ask for feedback in the right way at the right time from the right people to give you the outside perspective you need to improve your draft and dig into what I call the “ending vertigo” that starts to build as you approach the end of your book.
By Week 13 we’ll celebrate your finished novel and talk about some of the things you can expect and plan for after you type “the end”.

MEET YOUR COACH
Hi! I'm Justin. I'm a writer, coach, and story nerd.
Writing is the most rewarding & fulfilling creative outlet I've ever experienced. It's also frustrating, exhausting, and overwhelming sometimes.
Quite the paradox, no? I've found that most of the really valuable things in life are dual-sided like that. Things like exercise, marriage, parenting, & pursuing your dreams are some of the most difficult & most wonderful things you can invest your time into, & I personally add writing stories to that list.
I want to help people write their books, because I truly believe that stories are some of the most powerful things in the universe.
My Story
I’d been working on the same book for over a decade, dying to finish it but also doubting whether I was good enough or would ever be able to type “the end.” My writing sessions involved a lot of staring at a blank page, and even when I made some progress, I couldn’t help but think of how much farther I still had to go, and wonder how I was ever going to reach the end.
I read book after book on writing, but all of them focused on teaching me how to write better. Which was awesome, don’t get me wrong, but until I had actually FINISHED SOMETHING, better didn’t really matter.
Eventually, I even spent two years and over $30,000 on the Masters in Creative Writing program at Oxford University. Again, amazing experience, but guess what I had when I came out of that program? Lots of great information and an unfinished book, because for everything that I’d learned in the classroom, no one ever talked about how to actually pull all that theory together and put it onto the page when my brain was telling me I was a fraud and everything I wrote sucked.
In the end, everything I learned helped me improve my writing, but none of it gave me what I really needed: the confidence, clarity, and clear process to finally finish the book.
Everything I’d learned focused on HOW TO WRITE, instead of HOW TO GET INTO A WRITER’S MINDSET. No one talked about how to think and act like an author so that I could finally become one.
During the decade I spent struggling to write my first book I usually blamed “writer’s block” until I finally discovered the secret that took me from that frustration and discouragement to not only finishing the book, but then writing and publishing six more in just two years, with three of those going from start to finish in just six months
What I'm Working On
HERE'S THE SECRET...
WRITER'S BLOCK IS A MYTH
When I got stuck, I usually blamed writer's block.
Most of the time my brain was screaming at me that I was a fraud and everything I wrote sucked. And then I realized I could approach "writer's block" just like any other mindset obstacle that I coach my business clients through.
The state of paralysis that we call writer's block is really just a symptom of one of the four primary obstacles that every writer has to face and overcome on the journey to becoming an author:
- Fear: The self-doubts, comparisons, and worries about the end result that arise as we write.
- Confusion: The lack of a clear story map and process to help us confidently tell our story without stalling out.
- Friction: The ways that our schedule, our relationships, and even our writing systems can complicate or interrupt our process.
- Discomfort: The inevitable fatigue and growing pains that come along with learning any complex new skill.
Any one of those obstacles can grind your writing to a screeching halt, especially if you aren't aware of what is causing it in the first place. Essentially what we call writer's block is the result of worrying about the outcome while we are still in the process of creating. Learning how to face into and overcome each of those obstacles is the key to unlocking consistent and confident writing.
